Understanding Canine Allergies

Dogs have always been the sweetest, cutest, and most lovable pets but sometimes they can get allergies Allergy is basically the response of an immune system towards some substance or it can be against its own cells. Sometimes, this reaction is resolved instantaneously but it can equally result in itchy rash skin. There can be various symptoms of allergies but in the dog, the most common symptoms are skin irritations: itching, scratching, digging, and gnawing at the skin, chronic ear infections coughing, sneezing, or a nasal or ocular discharge, food allergies like skin irritations, vomiting and/or diarrhea. These symptoms can cause epileptic seizures and diseases like arthritis, asthma, chronic urinary tract infections, inflammatory bowel disease

Occasionally, it becomes difficult to know the exact cause of allergy. Every dog owner should be guided about the allergies and their causes and what should they do in these situations. One of these conditions are skin lesions. Topical medications in the form of supplements are given. These supplements are calendula flowers chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla or Anthemus nobile), yarrow (Achillea millefolium), lavender (Lavendula officinalis), and mullein (Verbascum Thapsus. Every dog owner should know that gastrointestinal tract is linked with immune system. If we heal up the gastrointestinal system, we can boost the immune system. A balanced immune system aids the dog to deal naturally with any allergen that may be causing allergic reactions. Another supplement is Aloe vera or senna. These supplements increase the dietary fibres.

A balanced immune system can be achieved using balanced immune system using herbs such as echinacea (Echinacea spp.) or Siberian ginseng (Eleutherococcus senticosus). There are also Immune enhancing supplements available which are vitamins C, A and zinc. Another herb like licorice root (Glyceriza glabra) might improve the adrenal gland and can get rid of some of the itch away. Homeopathic supplements are typically available to eliminate such allergies. But homeopathic medicine sometimes takes time to work. It can even take months to get the results. Some herbal supplements can also be used in the cases of allergies.
